Hello Everyone,

On behalf of the Kutztown University Arts Society, we hope that you continue to stay healthy and safe during these unprecedented times. As you are aware, the University has suspended all in-person activities and classes for the Spring semester. As a result and in the best interest of our membership, we have also suspended all events, which includes our inaugural Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

The Kutztown University Arts Society wishes to thank each of you for your support during these challenging times. We value your commitment, appreciation, and excitement as we reflect on this year and share some wonderful happenings for next season.

Thanks to you, nearly 3,500 K-12 students experienced music performances from all over the world during this school year. Through private master classes, closed studio performances, and even a behind-the-scenes look at the renowned Steinway Factory, the Society had the chance to make these opportunities a reality to students and community members because of your generous donations. With the help of the Arts Society, this year, we were able to mail out a brochure of Kutztown University art and music events to over 8,000 community members. We will continue to help advertise the great programming available to our community.

The inaugural Holiday Gala & Artisan Sale on Main Street was an absolute success, bringing together patrons and artisans for an evening of celebration, wine, and fare. We are excited to start planning the next holiday fundraising party!

In addition, this year, The Marlin & Regina Miller Gallery continued to bring in high caliber exhibitions and visiting artists, and with the help of the Arts Society, also hosted the Eastern Regional Scholastic Art Awards for the second year. As a part of the longest-running national art competition for grades 7-12, students from Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, and Northampton Counties were juried for regional awards. We had a record number of participants this year - over 700 students from 26 schools. While the gallery ended up closing during this exhibit due to necessary health precautions, we hope to reopen the exhibit to the public when permitted. The exhibit shows over 500 pieces of art! We had 13 students go on to receive National Level medals, awarded from a pool of over 400,000 entries. We look forward to growing this program and giving these talented teens and their teachers the recognition they deserve.

See the virtual exhibition on the Millery Gallery's Facebook page.

Looking ahead, KU Presents! Is excited to offer an excellent program for next season, which includes two programs for K-12 students in the region through the Arts Society's P.L.A.Y. initiative. The KU Arts Society pays for all expenses associated with this program, including the bussing costs, so there's no cost for the schools, students or taxpayers.

We understand that during these times, we are challenged with keeping spirits high and finding the positives in our Society. I continue to wish each of you a safe and healthy Spring as we push past COVID-19. Thank you again.
